3D Systems and SHINING 3D have partnered to create Geomagic Essentials 3D software , the simplest and most affordable scan-to-CAD solution for reverse engineering, to complement your 3D scanner. Converting a 3D scan into CAD entities has never been easier!
Perform a 3D scan with your 3D scanner, model the mesh or point cloud, and directly extract the desired CAD entities. You can then complete the solid modeling using your usual CAD software. You'll experience a very streamlined workflow for simple, high-quality reverse engineering.
Modern CAD software is limited in its ability to handle 3D scans and is unable to handle a reverse engineering project within it. This is why Geomagic Essentials represents the perfect link between your 3D scanner and CAD software, manually or automatically converting meshes into entities such as curves and surfaces.
By importing these entities into your CAD software you can complete your project and save it in native format.
Geomagic Essentials is also perfect for optimizing 3D scan data and preparing models for 3D printing (Scan to Print) or other processes where a polygonal model is required.
You'll have access to all the mesh editing tools, such as automatic mesh repair and optimization, decimation, hole filling for creating watertight models, and much more. You can also process textures acquired with color 3D scanners.
For CAD modeling, you can also extract entities by selecting individual regions of the mesh and perform an accuracy analysis of the extracted surfaces and curves.
