Descrizione

CarbonX™ PEEK+CF20 Ultra Polymer is formulated using 20% chopped carbon fiber and Victrex PEEK resin. Our PEEK+CF20 offers exceptional thermal properties [up to 280°C] as well as exceptional mechanical and chemical resistance.

CarbonX™ PEEK+CF20 is a leading polymer in FFF/FDM 3D printing. Made using 20% chopped high-modulus carbon fiber for exceptional stiffness, strength, and dimensional stability.

PEEK+CF20 is one of the highest-performance thermoplastics ever invented. It is used in some of the most demanding applications in industries such as automotive, aerospace, defense, semiconductor, and oil and gas. Engineers depend on PEEK for applications where failure is not an option.

The advantages of CarbonX™ PEEK+CF20:

  • Superior mechanical properties, even at high temperatures
  • Excellent chemical resistance
  • Low coefficient of linear thermal expansion (CTE)
  • Moisture absorption close to zero
  • Low emission of smoke and toxic gases

Thermal properties PEEK+CF20:

  • Heat deflection temperature (HDT) of 320°C
  • Glass transition temperature (Tg) of 143°C
  • Melting point (Tm) of 343°C
  • PEEK has incredible resistance to hydrolysis in boiling water and superheated steam (useful for sterilization and autoclaving) at temperatures above 250°C

Print with CarbonX™ PEEK+CF10

PEEK has a melting temperature (Tm) of 343°C, so you'll need an all-metal extruder capable of reaching (and maintaining) temperatures above 400°C, or more depending on your specific printer. Every printer, slicer, and print environment is different, and you'll have to tinker to find a process that works for you. One of the most challenging aspects of printing with PEEK was getting it to adhere to the build plate.

Note: PEEK+CF20 has a tendency to stick to metal (PEEK loves metal). Be sure to completely remove the extruder before it cools, or you risk permanent clogging. Seriously, we know this firsthand.

Recommended print settings:

  • Extruder: 385-415°C
  • Bed temperature: 130-150°C
  • Nozzle: We currently recommend a hardened steel nozzle with a minimum diameter of 0.4mm.
  • Note: The ideal layer height is 60% of the nozzle diameter. It's recommended not to print layers smaller than 0.2 mm with carbon fiber-reinforced filaments.
  • Bed preparation: 3DXTECH nanopolymer adhesive or polyimide tape gives us the best results
  • Heated room: recommended
  • Holders: The ThermaX™ HTS High Temperature Holder is specifically designed to work with complex, high-temperature materials like this.
  • Drying instructions: 120°C for 4 hours.

Abrasive material

This material is particularly abrasive among 3D printing filaments. Users may find that standard brass nozzles wear out very quickly compared to standard nozzles. If worn, the nozzle diameter will expand inconsistently, and the printer will experience extrusion issues.

Use hardened steel nozzles with this filament to maximize head life and the quality of your prints!
For this reason, it is highly recommended to print this material through a hardened steel nozzle rather than a softer metal. Hardened steel nozzles are often inexpensive and easily installed, depending on the printer manufacturer's instructions.
