Descrizione

CarbonX™ HTN+CF is made using a semi-aromatic polyphthalamide (PPA) and is a true high-temperature nylon [HTN] with a Tg of 125°C and a heat resistance up to 240°C. We blend this PPA/HTN with a special chopped carbon fiber, ideal for high-temperature polyamides. Our HTN+CF is ideal for demanding applications requiring excellent thermal, mechanical, and chemical resistance.

CarbonX™ High Temp CF Nylon is an advanced, true semi-aromatic polyphthalamide (PPA) reinforced with high-modulus carbon fiber. This polymer is widely used for metal replacement applications that must withstand high mechanical loads at elevated temperatures and aggressive chemical environments. HTN has traditionally been a go-to material for demanding applications in the automotive, aerospace, oil and gas, electrical, electronics, and industrial markets.

The benefits of CarbonX™ HTN+CF High Temp CF Nylon include:

  • High thermal properties, with Tg of 125°C, HDT of 240°C and Tm of 265°C
  • Excellent strength and stiffness over a wide temperature range, up to 240°C, superior to ULTEM™ PEI
  • Very low moisture absorption which guarantees better preservation of mechanical properties even in case of exposure to humid environments
  • Exceptional chemical resistance to alcohols, acids, automotive and jet fuels, oils, lubricants, brake and transmission fluids, antifreeze, and Zn/Ca chlorides

Recommended print settings:

  • Extruder: 285-315°C
  • Bed temperature: 110-120°C
  • Nozzle: We currently recommend a hardened steel nozzle with a minimum diameter of 0.4mm
  • Note: The ideal layer height is 60% of the nozzle diameter. It is recommended not to print layers smaller than 0.2 mm with carbon fiber-reinforced filaments.
  • Bed Prep: Magigoo Bed Prep and 3DXTECH Polyimide Tape give us the best results
  • Heated room: recommended
  • Supports: AquaTek™ Water Soluble X1 USM Universal Support Material is designed to work with complex model geometries
  • Drying instructions: 90°C for 4 hours

Abrasive material

This material is particularly abrasive among 3D printing filaments. Users may find that standard brass nozzles wear out very quickly compared to standard nozzles. If worn, the nozzle diameter will expand inconsistently, and the printer will experience extrusion issues.

Use hardened steel nozzles with this filament to maximize head life and the quality of your prints!
For this reason, it is highly recommended to print this material through a hardened steel nozzle rather than a softer metal. Hardened steel nozzles are often inexpensive and easily installed, depending on the printer manufacturer's instructions.
